CONFIG_BLK_DEV_UB is a _low_ performance driver. It is SLOWER than
usb-storage. The trade-off is higher "reliablity" in a certain sense. it
is the "low-performance but highly interoperable driver"
...
So Pete wrote UB. UB bypasses the SCSI layer altogether and impliments
only a subset of usb-storage. It tries to impliment such a small subset
of the protocol that is likely to work with a larg number of devices
without any issues even if it only supports partial functionality. And
that if it doesn't work with a device no work arounds will be put in --
that device just isn't supported. Additionally it has full tracing on
for errors at all times.
...
So, it is better for certain things and worse for others.
